The Maze Runner Review

Goodreads Summary:
"If you ain't scared, you ain't human."

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He's surrounded by strangers--boys whose memories are also gone.

Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It's the only way out--and no one's ever made it through alive.

Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying.

My Review:
I'd actually give this book 3.5, I thought it was a very exciting story. This book is not my typical read, it's a adventurous story about Thomas a boy who finds himself with no memories of his past just knowing his name. He is thrown in to a mysterious place filled with boys, monsters and a large maze. The story follows the journey they go through to escape.

Firstly I adore the relationship Thomas had with Chuck. It was my favourite bit about the book because it showed a caring, emotional side in Thomas's strong character. The end was AMAZING and I stayed up very late to finish it. It was happy but also heartbreaking. I actually cried which was very unexpected but it shows how emotionally attached I got to the characters.

I found it very hard to relate to Thomas at first, because he didn't really know anything about himself and the book was very hard to get into until I reached around page 90, but I'm glad I read on. The boys also have their own language which was strange, but you soon get used to it all and understand. The epilogue really confused me which I disliked because the book ending was great.

They have made The maze runner into a film which I'm really excited to see! I hope it's a great adaptation of the book. The casting looks great and I think Dylan O'Brien will be a great Thomas.

The book overall was a good read and I can't wait to do a review on The Scorch Trials. It's suited to anyone who wants a book with adventure and mystery.

“Shouldn't someone give a pep talk or something?" Minho asked, pulling Thomas's attention away from Alby.
"Go ahead" Newt replied.

Minho nodded and faced the crowd. "Be careful," he said dryly.
"Don't die.”

"Great. We're all bloody inspired." Newt said.”

  2. I didn't love the book but I am so excited for the movie. Dylan O'Brian is like my favorite person ever. I too had trouble connecting to Thomas. Although I did really like the world and interesting story. Good review!
